Related adsPurpose of position? Member of ITS Applications Web Team who will perform systems engineering and operational support of Web applications and developer tools.

Essential functions Support day-to-day operations of enterprise Web applications and Web-based development tools, primarily at the operating system and application server levels. Sustain and improve system software and operational processes to ensure all products exhibit excellence in robustness, availability, security, data integrity, and failure tolerance. Serve as liaison and conduit for communication between developers and server support teams. Work with customers campus-wide to determine their business needs, and translate those into functional technical requirements and system solutions. Provide responsive and professional customer support to campus customers and to colleagues.

Marginal/Incidental functions Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications Possess a broad knowledge of software development and operating system principles including application server configuration and operating system scripting. Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Strong written and verbal communication skills with both non-technical and technical users. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team and independently. Additional Qualifications: Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of applications, programming / analysis in Unix and Linux based systems. Demonstrated ability to configure and support Apache and or Tomcat web servers. Experience maintaining third-party enterprise applications on NIX systems. Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred qualifications Bachelor?s degree. Advanced knowledge and experience with Unix and Linux systems. Specific knowledge of Solaris or of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Proficiency developing and supporting applications in Python and or Java. Experience with automating the provisioning, configuration and management of systems and applications. Experience with virtual server architectures. Experience with maintenance, setup, and integration of LDAP systems. Experience with continuous integration tools and/or automated build tools. Familiarity with design principles for high-availability, high-scalability software environments.

Working conditions May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Use of manual dexterity.
